Not knowing the status of the perported "Airwolf Movie", I would just like to weigh in on the subject.
The only way a new version of the Airwolf would work, is if Hollywood was attempting to capture a new, younger audience, for future, televised episodes, and who did not grow up on the original series.
Much like the new "Knight Rider", that recently came out with the Cobra as KITT, I come from the old genere of the Trans Am. When they later modified KITT into the KITT 2000, with the expanding "Jet perpulsion system", my interest in the show started to waine. When they used the Firebird (??) in later episodes, I lost all interest, because it was not the original KITT, and what I had become accustomed to and expected the car to be. It was too overboard.
Like Airwolf, and again, possibly much like many of you, I too come from the time where Hollywood inadvertantly set the precedence of what we expect Airwolf to look like, in the back of our minds.
To me, they could possibly get away with using a modified Bell 430, but I expect with an overall, diminished outcome for those of us who grew up originally with the show, but catering to the newer audiences.
To me, it would be like adding icing to a turd, and then attempting to pass it off as a spice cake, when we are all accustomed to what spice cake actually looks like.
