What happened to the original airwolf????
10/01/06 at 2:35pm

Hi Guys.

I'm a massive fan off airwolf, always have been but i'm a bit confused on what ever happened to the original airwolf.  Undecided  I have heard several stories, the most being it was converted into a commercial chopper.  Other stories suggest a crash and a few others have popped up over the years.  I'm just wondering if any one could set the record straight on this.  Maybe any referances to any news articles etc would be great.

On the same subject.  What ever happened to the Santini Air chopper because i have never heard any stories what happed to that?

Any information on this guys would be much appreciated  Grin

Thanks in advance

This is, it's still at Van Nuy's it's never left.

That replica paint job seems to have fooled a few casual browsers Smiley.  It's a shame that 44C doesn't still have the Santini paint scheme.  From what I've seen, initially the stripes remained but were changed to blue.

It's used so much in filming projects that it's fun to spot 44C in behind-the-scenes footage.  There's a  brief shot if it dropping the Apollo 13 capsule into the ocean in the movie's DVD extras.

EmbarrassedOOPSIE! My bad! Embarrassed

Uh...O.K.....ummmm,...Well, I'll blame it on whoever posted it over on airwolf.org, that's where I first saw the "Santini Air for sale" listing. Shame on me for passing along inaccurate information.

Sorry about that.

Wow, Thanks Dennis for that link, cleared alot up for me now that has.

It was kind off exiting to read but at the same time kind off sad and tearfull looking at pics of a helicopter that was once airwolf. It's a shame they converted it back really and more tearfull with the sad ending with the loss of lives.  I guess it seemed more cost effective at the time to put it into service unfortunatly no one can predict bad things to happen.

Bit off a tragic end to it really and i gues it's not something we can be proud off.  Nature is s one step ahead off us though.

But once again, thanks for clearing that up for me.  Nice to see the pics as well.. They can go with all my other many pics of the lady.

On the santini Chopper.  I have to admit, i saw that article before and pretty much guessed it was a mock up.  A nice mock up though i must say.

Thanks Wendigo for clearing that up.

Thanks to Wolfman, i never realized it was used in other scenes very interesting.  May have to buy that dvd now just to see the clip off it.

I  suppose it's just like the Redwolf which i remember was used in an episode of the A-Team with out the red nose, but soon as i saw that i recognised it straight away.

Thanks very much all.  Much appreciated.

Dennis,
The paint job got ya! It's hard to fool me with aircraft. I know most of the N # of the aircraft from the show. I've tracked most of the choppers. The Hughes 500 used in Natural Born, Sweet Britches and many other episodes is in Ohio owned by a survey Co. It's easy to see why some people thought it was the same but the paint job is wrong too! The skids are red on the impostor the real one had white skids. Just a little F.Y.I. It's no biggie though, I just wanted to set things strait.

No problem.

To be honest about it, I didn't really look very close at that "Santini Air" chopper. I bookmarked the page back when I saw it and never got around to checking it out for accuracy.

Is that egg I taste on my face?????

Sorry - it was me who posted the original link on airwolf.org, but I assumed everyone would know it wasn't the real thing.  I was more surprised someone had gone to the trouble to replicate the paint job on another 206!

That's a nice looking ship.  You can add the cockpit photo by making another post within this thread.

Looks a lot more complicated then the R-2 I got to control.  My uncle used to fly the mayor's Bell 222 around the state of Michigan he however is retired now. He was a Helicopter pilot in Vietnam Cobras, Hueys and then went on to pilot Helicopters with the Michigan state police. He has not flown in years though.

That's a full IFR layout in that dash.  As James Bond would say, "What a handsome craft.  Such lovely lines."

you are absolutely correct wolfman....she is fully IFR equipped ...... you need it in europe!!  Grin

As i'm sure airwolf would have been to allow it to fly in the clouds!! Not sure they had the Garmin GPS screens in those days but i'm sure the props department would have been able to Knock something together!!!

regards

I wish I could find the pictures, but when I was a kid, we went to Universal Studios in Hollywood and just after you walked in, they had Airwolf just sitting there for all to see.  It was really cool to see it.
